Messianism in Judaism 6
In the last part we took a look at some of the verses of the book of “prophet Isaiah” that directly mentions the return of Mahdi (PBUH) and also some of Shia hadiths (quotations) related to it:
In the last verse of the book of “prophet Isaiah” we read: “for the earth shall be full of the knowledge of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea.” This indicates that when the promised savior comes, scientific and cultural transformation will happen to a degree that all of mankind will believe in the one and only god.
The entrances to different fields of science will become open to men and the overall knowledge of mankind will increase. What knowledge humanity could have gained in thousands of years, will now be gained in a short time. Wisdom of mankind will flourish and narrow-mindedness will disappear and mankind will reach its peak of understanding, wisdom and morality and will put an end to all failures, foolishness, tyrannies and miseries and all of mankind will start a new honorable life.
In a hadith (narration) from Imam Baqir (PBUH) we read:
“When the savior (from us, the fourteen infallibles) rises, he will put his hand on the head of servants of god and will gather their wisdom (making them wise) and complete their morality and they will grow and reach integrity.”(1)
In another hadith from him it is said:
“In his time, you will be given so much knowledge that a housewife will judge by the book of god and the sunna of Muhammad (PBUH) in her house (people’s ability to judge will increase drastically because of the knowledge given to them).” (2)
In other chapters of the book of “prophet Isaiah”, there are many promises about the savior of the world and they mention his plans which can be categorized as below:
1-Providing social justice and public security
2-Providing common welfare and prosperity in the world
- Providing social justice and public security
In a chapter of the book of Isaiah it is said that in the time of his ruling, social justice will be provided and there will be public security to a degree that people will live together in peace and with intimacy and animals will coexist and live together:
Then judgment shall dwell in the wilderness, and righteousness remain in the fruitful field.
And the work of righteousness shall be peace; and the effect of righteousness quietness and assurance forever.
And my people shall dwell in a peaceable habitation, and in sure dwellings, and in quiet resting places. (3)
- Providing common welfare and prosperity in the world
In another chapter of the book of Isaiah it is said that in his time, all tyranny will vanish and justice will be spread and poverty will disappear, material and spiritual needs of people will be satisfied and everyone will have a benign Islamic morality and people will live in prosperity and comfort and happiness:
They shall not labour in vain, nor bring forth for trouble; for they are the seed of the blessed of the LORD, and their offspring with them.
And it shall come to pass, that before they call, I will answer; and while they are yet speaking, I will hear.
The wolf and the lamb shall feed together, and the lion shall eat straw like the bullock: and dust shall be the serpent’s meat. They shall not hurt nor destroy in all my holy mountain, saith the LORD. (4)
